HIM says goodbye to Detroit at their sold-out tour at The Fillmore 11/11/17.

One of Finland’s most famous bands, with their heartagram emblem, found all over the world, played for adoring and faithful fans tonight.

The music was raw and powerful, embodying the light, the dark and the love that can be found there.

I️ spoke with several fans who had traveled from all over just to be there; some up to 10 hours drive! Two businessmen visiting from Finland for example, yes Finland…. who wanted to get in and unfortunately could not because the concert was sold out! They offered to be my assistant to get the best ‘seats’ in the house. With a kind “thank you but no”, I️ continued into The Fillmore, eager to photograph a band that I listened to growing up.

You could feel the fans emotions; many were in tears and HIM had not walked out on the stage yet. They were not ready to say good-bye and several fans expressed it was HIM‘s music that had gotten them through very rough teen years.

Ville was in classic Ville-style – black with his dark eye makeup. His unique, deep and moody sounds that draw you in and keep you reminiscing about their music new and old.

Fillmore’s classic architecture only seemed to deepen the emotions that were rampant tonight.

3Teeth and CKY rocked out prior to HIM. They both successfully got the crowd ready.

HIM started the show out with the song playing over the speakers ‘Bye Bye Love‘, by the Everly Brothers; lyrics very fitting for this moment. As HIM walked out, it made me think, ‘yes, it’s goodbye, but your songs and lyrics will remain an inspiration and legacy to many.’

Thank You, Him, for a wonderful finale in Detroit!
